Royal Historical Society

Camden Series

The Royal Historical Society (and its predecessor body, the Camden Society) has since 1838 published editions of sources on British History. It is a very good collection, and many of the early volumes remain in regular use. The publication is on-going (two volumes per annum), and the volumes are currently published by Cambridge University Press. The series now comprises over 325 volumes.

Availability of electronic text

Volumes published since 2002 are available in digital format from the Cambridge University Press website. The Society is actively committed to the digitisation of its back list, and has obtained permission from almost all the editors of its volumes for digital versions should other organisations wish to undertake the work. An increasing number of volumes are becoming available through projects like British History OnLine and Google Book Search. We aim to provide links to electronic text where available through the results pages of the Society's Bibliography.
